Impaired driver banned from roads
A motorist who was stopped by police in Southampton has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.
Peter Sousa, 29, admitted riding his bike while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
The court heard that police noticed Sousa, from St George’s, riding west along South Road on August 26 and caused him to stop near St Anne’s Church.
Officers heard that Sousa’s speech was slurred, they smelt alcohol on his breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station.
Sousa was fined $1,500 in addition to being banned.
