Man admits causing GBH by driving

A man who caused a crash in Devonshire has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for two years.

Ian Tucker, 32, admitted causing Orlando Lovell grievous bodily harm by driving without due care and attention when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Tucker, from Devonshire, drove into Mr Lovell’s lane of traffic while turning from Tee Street on to Middle Road on June 29, 2024.

This caused Mr Lovell to lose control of his vehicle, which struck a wall.

Mr Lovell’s left hand and wrist were fractured and two other people were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after the incident.

Tucker apologised to the court, calling it “an honest mistake”.

In addition to the ban, Tucker was fined $2,000 for the offence.
