US national charged with drug trafficking and possession

A US national facing four drug-related charges was remanded yesterday.

Silamon Safi, 25, was charged with the importation of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to supply, the importation of oxycodone and possession of oxycodone with intent to supply when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The charges were alleged to have happened on Saturday in St George’s.

Mr Safi was not required to enter a plea because the matter must be heard in front of the Supreme Court.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson referred the case to the Supreme Court’s June arraignments session and remanded Mr Safi in custody.
