Disqualified driver gets sent back to DUI Court

A woman caught last week driving an unlicensed car with a child inside, and while banned from the roads, had also been smoking cannabis, Magistrates’ Court heard yesterday.

Isjamai Hayward, 32, admitted disqualified driving, as well as driving while impaired by a drug, and operating an unlicensed and uninsured vehicle.

Police who stopped Hayward noticed her speech was slurred and saw her young daughter in the car.

Hayward, from Pembroke, denied drinking alcohol, but admitted smoking cannabis about an hour before getting behind the wheel.

Magistrate Maria Sofianos fined Hayward for the offences, banned her from the roads for an additional 18 months and ordered her to take part in DUI Court, which she was previously enrolled in, starting on Tuesday.
