Rangers mourn

Southampton Rangers are mourning the death of footballer and cricketer Carl (Ben-Rock) Raynor.

Raynor, 74, died last Saturday at King Edward Hospital. A funeral service will be held today at Vernon Temple in Southampton, beginning at 3pm.

During his heyday Raynor earned a reputation as a “solid” football defender for Rangers and also held his own in the cricket arena as a middle-order batsman and medium pacer for the South Shore club.

The late athlete is the brother of former Cup Match players Sheridan, Lee and Lloyd Raynor.

Ex-Somerset Cup Match skipper Sheridan Raynor suffered a stroke last December and remains in a coma at King Edward Hospital.
