Rec boost survival chances
Devonshire Rec, 149 for six, beat Willow Cuts 148 all out, by four wickets
Devonshire Rec bounced back from their defeat to Southampton Rangers at home the previous day to steal vital points from Willow Cuts at Somerset Cricket Club yesterday.
Sitting in the relegation zone, and needing to pull closer to those around them, including Cuts, the Rec put on a businesslike display to get the win and leapfrog their opponents and get themselves into a position to battle for a Belco Cup place.
Batting first, the hosts were bowled out for 148, with George O'Brien scoring 53, while Chris Douglas (21), Bergon Spencer (28) and Dexter Basden (16) helped in getting the side to their total.
Wilbur Burt and Dean Stephens both claimed four wickets apiece, with skipper Derrick Brangman taking two and Herbie Bascome helping himself to one.
In reply, Ricardo Brangman sr scored 31 runs to lead the run chase, and was ably helped by Stephen Bremar (28), and Bascome (19).
Pierre Smith scored 16, while Deunte Darrell took three wickets for Cuts. Reggie Tucker and O'Brien each took one wicket.
Delray Rawlins' man of the match performance wasn't enough to stop Bermuda Under-15s slipping to defeat in their opening ICC Americas U-15 Northern Division Tournament match against USA yesterday.
Rawlins scored 71 and took three wickets as Bermuda lost by 15 runs.
USA's Neil Tagare scored a run a ball 79 as his side's total of 210 proved just too much.
