Fray shrugs off injury in time for university clash

Terryn Fray and his University of Wales Institute team-mates have made their final preparations in training before taking on Reading University tomorrow.Victory would be a welcome reward for Fray whose Sulley Cricket Club lost by five wickets to Pontarddulais last weekend, a game in which he injured his hand. He scored four runs batting at number seven.Putting that minor blip on the radar behind him, and insisting his hand is fine, the former Bermuda Under-19 national team captain said he was determined to help his team advance to the next round of the cup competition.“My university team is doing really well,” said Fray. “We should have won the league but there were too many other games in the league rained off so they abandoned the league.“I picked up a slight injury in my hand on the weekend, but otherwise all is well.”With his season finishing within the next four to five weeks, the Somerset Cup Match opening batsman will be back on local shores in time for the summer spectacle. It will be at the right time as well, with Fray averaging 51.25 runs with the bat and being heavily involved in both the Sulley First and Second XI this year. Not knowing what to expect from Reading, the Bailey’s Bay player is backing his side to produce the good, regardless of whether they bat or field first.“Personally I’m fine, been playing well here and there, made some good scores for the university but still haven’t reached the preferred level I want to be playing at but hopefully it will come soon.“I am not looking to come back to Bermuda until after my season out here is finished and that should be later of this month or beginning of next month, and it’s a good time for me as I’m averaging jus above 50 for the school season at 51.25.“We haven’t played them (Reading) as they in a different region from us, but we should fairly well.“Our team is strong, our batting usually carries us so we should be able to post the runs or chase them down.”
