Cricket community mourns loss of Cup Match star

The local cricket community is mourning the death of former Southampton Rangers and Somerset Cup Match all-rounder Lloyd Raynor.Raynor died at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital last night from cancer, family sources confirmed.During his heyday the late cricketer made a name for himself as a middle order batsman and medium pace bowler.“He was one of the best onside batsmen of his era,” said Raynor's brother, former Rangers and St George's Cup Match star Lee Raynor. “He was in the class of Neville Roberts and Sheldon Furbert who were the best onside batsmen on the Island at that time.“Lloyd was a team player who always encouraged his teammates and was a nice person to be around in the dressing room.”The late cricketer is also the brother of late Rangers and Somerset Cup Match star Sheridan Raynor.He is the father of former Rangers and Somerset Cup Match fast bowler Randy Raynor and ex-Somerset Bridge all-rounder Denzil Dill.
