Cleveland are awaiting the Eastern Counties Cricket Association’s decision on their appeal hearing which was held on Monday night.

No decision was made at the end of the hearing and the Cleveland representatives present were told to expect an announcement in the next few days.

The Eastern Counties holders appealed the governing body’s decision to strip them of the cup after several incidents during their first-round match with Bailey’s Bay, which ended after a draw.

About 40 minutes were lost during the afternoon session when Cleveland’s players threatened not to continue the match after being frustrated by some umpiring decisions.

Five Cleveland players have since been disciplined over the conduct, with Shaki Darrell receiving a 14-game suspension for threatening the umpires.

The second round of the competition will take place on August 15 when Flatts provide the opposition.

The Bermuda Cricket Board will hold two play-off games on Saturday at Shelly Bay Field after the conclusion of the league stage of the XL Foundation Summer Youth League.

The East will meet the West at 10am and then at 2pm the East Central will play the West Central.

On Monday, the XL Foundation Summer Youth League All-Star game will take place at Devonshire Recreation Club at 5pm.

Neil Speight, the executive director of the BCB, said: “The BCB is very excited to be able to launch the XL Super Summer under-14 series this year. Traditionally the summer holiday period has been a difficult time for regular youth cricket to be played and this is a very important age group for player development.”
