Strong start to the season for Scotland

In the runs: Scotland has started his season well in England

Marcus Scotland has started his second full season representing Surrey County Cricket Club’s youth team and South West London side Spencer Cricket Club.

Scotland had scores of 25 and 36 in his first two matches of the season. His first match for Surrey Under-13s will take place on June 1.

The 13-year-old, who is the grandson of Cup Match legend Rupert Scotland and son of Cleon, has managed to meet several top players during his winter training, including Eoin Morgan, Ben Stokes, and Joe Root who helped England get to the final of last month’s Twenty20 World Cup in India.

Lloyd Fray, the president of the Bermuda Cricket Board, said: “I am very pleased with Marcus’s continued progress. The BCB is supporting a number of young players, boys and girls, in the UK and we are very heartened that Marcus’s skill development is progressing at an excellent rate.”

Scotland top scored for Bermuda in last summer’s under-14 Development Tour to England, scoring 193 runs with an average of 64.33, including three half-centuries in five innings.
