Gibbons continues fine form

Fine form: Treadwell Gibbons

Treadwell Gibbons continued to prosper in the Evening Cricket League, smashing his third successive half-century to help steer a resurgent West XI to an eight-wicket win over Renegades at Shelly Bay.

The national team left-hander made 76, sharing a century partnership with Jim West, who made 55, as West XI eased home with five balls to spare after Matthew Spencer had laid the foundation for Renegades’ challenging 138 for five by hammering four sixes and four fours in his 78.

Renegades remain top of the Premier League on 15 points, despite their defeat, but have played two more games than defending champions Tuff Dogs.

An unbeaten 48 from Gary Knight and 31 from Mike Penrose helped third-placed The Associates canter to a nine-wickest win over Fine Leg Byes after Alex Brown’s three wickets had helped restrict FLB to 88 for six.
