Wellington Oval (Willow Cuts won toss): St George’s beat Willow Cuts by seven wickets

St George’s picked up a comfortable victory over Willow Cuts yesterday, dismissing the visitors for just 129 in 31.2 overs and then reaching 133 for three in just 20.1 overs.

Opener Treadwell Gibbons led the 96-minute run chase with a knock swift off 32 not out from 46 balls while Macai Simmons added a valuable contribution of 28 not out in a stand of 41 with Gibbons.

Nzari Paynter added 25 off 25 balls with five fours after coming in at No 3 when Tomiko Wilson was dismissed for eleven when the score was 35.

Ras Solomon Burrows and Micah Simons were the top batsmen for Willow Cuts with 22 apiece while extras was the biggest contribution to their total, 24, including 18 wides.

Four St George’s bowlers took four wickets, captain Onias Bascome giving up 14 runs in 6.2 overs, Detroy Smith and Shaq Darrell 21 from six and five overs respectively while Allan Douglas gave up 24 runs in his six overs.

Willow Cuts slumped from 127 for seven as they lost their last four wickets for just two runs.
