St George’s further cemented their position at the top of the Athene T20 League Premier Division table with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Cleveland County on Saturday.

Having elected to bat, Cleveland were restricted to just 76 runs from 18.4 overs as St George’s captain Onias Bascome ripping through the batting order to finish with a five-wicket haul, giving up just 15 runs in the process.

Only opener Q'Shai Darrell (30) and Makai Young (21) managed to reach double figures with the bat for Cleveland.

In reply St George’s knocked off the required total in just 9.2 overs with Allan Douglas leading the way, top scoring with 40, while Macai Simmons (25 not out) and Treadwell Gibbons (7 not out) adding the remaining runs.

There was also a victory for Somerset, who sealed a 43-run success against Southampton Rangers.

Electing to bat, Somerset set a total of 151-8 from their allotted overs as Matt Watson led the way with 54 from 38 balls. Dominic Sabir also added a valuable 33 runs from just 13 balls, which included four sixes.

Tayo Smith was the pick of the Rangers bowlers with figures of three for 20.

In reply, only Charles Trott (40) made a significant contribution, with Gerald Simons (21) and Keishon Wilson (17) the only other batsmen to reach double figures as Rangers could only muster 107-7 from their allotted overs.

Watson and Terence Corday picked up two wickets apiece, with Jordan DeSilva, Isaiah Richardson and Greg Maybury also taking a wicket each.

It proved a day to forget for Warwick who were bowled out for just 37 runs in a 74-run defeat against Bailey’s Bay.

Having elected top field, Warwick restricted the opposition to 111-8 from their allotted overs, with Terryn Fray (36) and Coolridge Durham (30) the only Bay batsman to make a significant impression.

However, Warwick’s reply was over before it really got going, bowled out in 10.4 overs with no batsmen reaching double figures as Kyle Swan and Kian Butterfield top scored with just eight runs.

Kyle Hodsoll was the pick of the Bay bowling attack taking three wickets for 11 runs, while Sancho Jackson, Sharye Tavares and D’nyi Thomas claiming two wickets each.

In the First Division, Leaders St David’s continued their superb start to the season after easing to 87-run victory over Flatts.

After being put into bat, St David’s set a strong total of 176-4 from their allotted overs with Derrick Brangman leading the charge with an impressive knock of 75 from 48 balls. He was supported strongly by Justin Pitcher (45 not out) and Dean Simons (32).

In truth Flatts never really looked reaching the target with opener Jan-Johan Nel (35) the only batsman to make his mark, with no one else able to reach double figures in a total of just 89.

Having starred with the bat, Brangman was also the pick of the bowling attack, taking three wickets for 14 runs, while Isaiah O'Brien also claimed two wickets.

There was also a vital victory for struggling Devonshire Rec who sealed an 87-run victory over Willow Cuts.

Having elected to bat, Drewonde Bascome was at his destructive best for Rec, smashing his way to 82 from 44 balls in a knock that included six fours and six sixes, helping his side set a strong total of 179-6 from their allotted overs.

In reply, Cuts were bowled out for 92, with Ras-Solomon Burrows top scoring with 31. Rudell Pitcher was the pick of the bowling attack with figures of two for 17.

Elsewhere, PHC prevailed in a battle of two teams at the wrong end of the table, beating Somerset Bridge by 49 runs.

Put into bat, Kevin Lambe led the way for PHC, reaching his half century in a knock of 52 to help his side set a total of 118-4. Dev Hanuman (21 not out) and Dionte Dowling (19) were the only other batsman to reach double figures.

In reply, Bridge were skittled out for just 69 in 15.2 overs with Neil Thakur top scoring with 16. Jamori Beach proved the pick of the bowling attack with figures of three for 12, while Hanuman also picked up a three-wicket haul, giving up just 15 runs in the process.
