White Hill Field (Somerset Bridge won toss): Willow Cuts beat Somerset Bridge by 22 runs

Willow Cuts came away victorious in a low scoring Athene First Division T20 affair against Somerset Bridge at White Hill Field yesterday.

The home side did well to restrict their Western Counties rivals to 115 for seven after inserting them in to bat.

However, their batters were not equal to the task as they suffered a massive top order collapse with their first six wickets tumbling for 39 runs and never really recovered.

It was the perfect response for Dexter Basden’s team who got their promotion bid back on track at the earliest opportunity having lost to bottom side Devonshire 24 hours earlier.

“It’s nice to get back to winning ways,“ Basden said.

”With Bridge it is a derby, so it’s always nice to win a derby.“

Ras Solomon Burrows led Cuts’ batting against Bridge with 27 from 26 balls with one four and a six.

Kamal Bashir chipped in with 22, Sergio Raynor 21 and Chakote Basden 16.

Cuts captain Kwasi James led from the front with the ball, claiming three for just five runs while Raynor took three for 24 to cap a fine all round display.

Clarence Trott was the top scorer for Bridge with 27, while Donnie Charles added 18 and Samir Tavares 15 not out.

Shawn Riley led the hosts bowling with three for 12 while Tavares claimed two for 10.
