Whitney Institute win Middle Schools girls cricket final

The Whitney Institute won the Middle School girls Super 8s cricket tournament at North Field after remaining unbeaten.

Whitney started the day by defeating Warwick Academy by 36 runs. Whitney batted first and scored 86 runs in their allotted seven overs with openers Daley Outerbridge and Cindi-Anna Darrell scoring 13 runs each.

They then limited Warwick Academy to 50 runs in their innings with Savannah Greenslade and Amaya James scoring 5 runs apiece

Whitney next took on Sandys Secondary Middle School and chased down their target of 77 in 4.5 overs.

Sandys batted first and scored 77 runs, led by impressive batting by Hannah Dill with 23 and A'Meerah Richardson Swan with 34. Whitney were up to the challenge and chased the total behind E'Rynn Paynter with 30 and Alia German-Pitcher with 24

Whitney again sent their opponents into bat in the third match with Dellwood Middle School scoring 66 runs in their seven overs. Dellwood were led by Latavia Hayward who scored 19. Paynter once again led Whitney with 31 runs

Sandys finished runners up after defeating Dellwood and Warwick Academy. The West Enders defeated Dellwood with the final ball of the match as they chased a target of 83. Dellwood was led by Zeni Hansley with 28 and Lashee Jones with 20. Sandys Azari James led all scorers with 32 with Hannah Dill adding 25.

James also led Sandys to victory over Warwick Academy. James scored 26 and Dill 11 as they crossed Warwick Academy's score of 37 with an over to spare.

Dellwood defeated Warwick Academy in the other match of the tournament. Mirabella Lohan scored 23 as top scorer for Warwick Academy who finished their innings with 62 runs. Latavia Hayward scored 17 with Zeni Hansley scoring 15 for Dellwood who finished with 65 runs
