Allan Douglas Jr made a century before lunch in St George’s Cup Match trial game.

Douglas hit 115, with his total coming off just 82 balls and included nine fours and 11 sixes.

The Cup Match regular’s place in St George’s line-up this year has been questioned after he was out for a duck and five in his two innings at the Annual Classic in 2022 but he has now put himself fresh in the minds of the selectors with a stunning knock after he came in at No 6 for the Vice-President’s XI.

Douglas was the only batsman to make an impact in the morning session with Treadwell Gibbons Jr making 18 before being bowled by Shakai Darrell, who also took the wickets of Zeri Tomlinson for eight and Charles Trott for 11.

Gibbons’s fellow opener Oronde Bascome was caught by Temiko Wilson off the bowling of 16-year-old Luke Fulton for nine, while Q’Shai Darrell was trapped leg before by Seth Campbell for one and Jonté Smith caught by Shakai Darrell off the bowling by Macai Simmons for five.

After lunch, Rodney Trott and Brian Hall chipped in with 42 and 38 respectively as the Vice-President’s XI declared on 266 for nine after 55 overs.

St George’s selectors will have been disappointed by what they saw from the President’s XI in response, with none of the top nine batters, including Delray Rawlins, making it into double figures.

Rawlins, who came in at No 7 was out for just seven when he was caught by wicketkeeper Sinclair Smith off the bowling of Jabari Darrell.

While Darrell claimed the big wicket, most of the damage was done by Zeko Burgess and Jamar Stovel, who picked up seven wickets between them.

Burgess claimed the scalps of Temiko Wilson (0), Azendae Furbert (1) and Nzari Paynter with Stovel removing Marcus Scotland (1), Macai Simmons (2) and captain Onias Bascome (0) to go along with Rawlins.

The President’s XI were 23 for eight after 12 overs with the selectors now left to pick a side that have mostly failed with the bat, Douglas aside, in their last game before Cup Match.
