St George’s have made four changes to their Cup Match team In an effort to wrestle back the Cup Match trophy from Somerset,.

Bermuda captain Delray Rawlins, whose only Cup Match appearance came in 2014 when he scored 55 not out and picked up two wickets, makes his return to the team.

St George’s have also recalled Charles Trott, picked Western Stars spin bowler Brian Hall and Bailey’s Bay opening batsman Azendae Furbert.

Hall, in particular, was difficult to ignore as one of the island’s leading wickettakers this season. The 30-year old has also contributed with the bat, posting a best score of 64 not out. He did not even have to bowl in the trial match on Saturday to secure his spot after hitting an unbeaten 38.

Wicketkeeper Sinclair Smith has been elevated to vice-captain, taking over the position from Rodney Trott, who has kept his place in the team.

Three changes were forced upon St George’s. who are under pressure to deliver on their home turf after suffering back-to-back ten-wicket defeats, with OJ Pitcher out through injury, George O’Brien being dropped and Jordan Burgess not available for selection as a result of overseas school commitments.

As well as replacing those players, they have also chosen to drop Jonté Smith.

The son of who St George’s coach Clay Smith is now a reserve after recently recovering from a knee injury, which has impacted his playing time this season.
