Carey and Nel gave Flatts a perfect platform with an opening stand of 91 runs, with the Rangers bowling attack not posing much threat to the Flatts batting order as skipper Dalin Richardson, Najiyah Raynor and Jahir Smith all picked up a wicket apiece.

Rangers never got going in their run chase, with their highest scores coming from Jaloni Albuoy (24) and his opening partner Raynor (20). The two put up a 45-run partnership for the first wicket only for their team to fail to capitalise on their opening stand.

Kijuan Franks ripped apart the Rangers batting order to finish with four for 18 in his four overs, with Nekoda Bascome picking up two wickets for 18 runs.

Cleveland County continued their quest for automatic promotion from the Athene T20 First Division with a comprehensive win over a hapless Somerset Bridge.

Opener Neil Thakur was bowled by a quicker delivery from Q’Shai Darrell between middle and leg stump, while Shawn Riley who faced the first ball after Bridge chose to bat, failed to commit to a run with youngster Khymai Richards at the non-striker’s end, allowing Tybrae Robinson to make a pinpoint throw which hit the stumps.

Rising star Samir Tavares pulled together a composed knock of 23 from 16 balls, although his was the only Bridge score at a strike rate of more than one run run per ball.

Jason Smith did manage two fours and one six, but his innings largely failed to deliver any substance or power as Bridge were restricted to a paltry 88 for seven.

Cleveland County, who prepare this week for the Eastern Counties final, faced a comfortable chase and made it look easy.

Treadwell Gibbons Jr led the charge with his power and occasional finesse, stroking 51 not out, from 23 balls, with three fours and five sixes. He was ably assisted by captain Mackih McGowan, who scored 17 not out from 21 balls, as his side reached their total in just 9.3 overs.
