Justin Pitcher takes five wickets as St David’s beat Bailey’s Bay
Justin Pitcher took five wickets as St David’s beat Bailey’s Bay by 96 runs in the 50 Overs Premier Division at Sea Breeze Oval on Sunday.
Pitcher took the scalps of five of the first seven bay batters, with opener Coolidge Durham and captain Terryn Fray among his victims.
The spinner’s heroics meant that Bay were bowled out for 108 in reply to the 204 posted by St David’s, whose captain Derrick Brangman won the toss and opted to bat first.
Opener OJ Pitcher set the tone with the bat, making 42 before being caught and bowled by Bay seamer Macquille Walker. Pitcher’s fellow opener Aaron Paynter made just two before No 3 Derrick Brangman and No 4 Isaiah O’Brien both made decent contributions of 12 and 30 respectively.
But it was Ricardo Brangman, in at No 5, who took the game out of Bay’s reach, scoring 64 off 69 deliveries, which included five fours and five sixes.
Brangman stayed secure with wickets falling around him, only Naquan Smith contributing any score of note, with 19.
Walker and Sharye Tavares were the pick of the Bay bowlers, with three for 37 and three for 58 respectively, with Kyle Hodsoll chipping in with a couple of wickets and Dennico Hollis and Rodney Trott claiming one apiece.
In reply, Bay could not put together any serious partnership, largely thanks to Pitcher’s brilliance.
He finished with five for 24 from his 10 overs, with Taj Cariah, Walker and Tavares joining Durham and Fray back on the sidelines.
Dennico Hollis was Bay’s top scorer with 28 runs, while Derrick Brangman bagged a couple of wickets for St David’s with O’Brien and Brian Hall claiming one apiece.
