Police seize gun in Smith’s

Police recovered a gun in the Club Road area of Smith’s this weekend.

A Police spokesman said yesterday: “Acting on intelligence, police officers attended the Club Road, Smith’s parish area at around 4.15pm on Sunday, September 11 and recovered a firearm.

“The firearm is being forensically examined and inquiries into the matter are ongoing.”

The gun is the third recovered by police this month. Two others, along with a quantity of ammunition, were seized at a property on Friswells Hill, Pembroke on September 8.

The spokesman called for members of the public to continue helping police get guns off the streets by providing any information that could lead to their recovery.

“Anyone with any information regarding illegal activity is encouraged to call the Bermuda Police Service at 295-0011 or, alternatively, the confidential and independent Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477,” said the spokesman.
