Belvin’s double murder: Police make arrest

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a double murder which took place in January.A Police spokesman said yesterday: “The Bermuda Police Service is continuing its investigations into a shooting which occurred at Belvin’s Variety store on Happy Valley Road, Pembroke resulting in the death of Haile Outerbridge and Ricco Furbert on January 23, 2013.“A 24-year-old male from Sandys was arrested on May 29 by the Serious Crime Unit and is being questioned regarding this matter.“No determination as to charge or any further details will be released at this time.”Mr Outerbridge and Mr Furbert were both gunned down at around 9pm by a person seen on CCTV cameras wearing a blue rain suit and black full faced helmet.Two suspects were reportedly arrested in January in connection with the killing, but were granted bail in February with strict reporting restrictions.Police are still seeking the assistance of the public as they continue their investigation, and anyone with information or evidence that can assist in bringing the offenders to justice is urged to make contact with the Serious Crime Unit.The Senior Investigating Officer is Detective Chief Inspector Nicholas Pedro, and he can be contacted at 247-1340 or on the main police switchboard at 295-0011.Anyone interested in leaving information anonymously can call the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline at 800-8477.
