A 33-year-old woman has been held up at gunpoint and robbed of her motorcycle.

Three men accosted her in the area of Astwood Park, Warwick, at about 11.30am on Wednesday. No one was injured.

“Officers were dispatched to a reported robbery of a motorcycle,” said Robin Simmons, of the Police Service’s Media Relations team. “It appears that the rider, believed to be a female guest worker, was robbed of her motorcycle while riding in the South Road, Warwick, area near Astwood Park by three male suspects on two motorcycles.

“One of the suspects apparently brandished what appeared to be a firearm during the incident.”

The victim’s black Honda Airblade, licence plate BZ831, was taken.

The three suspects were riding two dark-coloured motorcycles. The men were wearing dark clothing and had dark helmets.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour by three unknown males on dark motorcyles in the area between 11.15am and 11.30am. Anyone who saw two or three dark bikes riding together at high speed in the area and adjoining areas are also asked to come forward.

Anyone who can assist the Police is urged to call CID on 247-1744 or the independent and confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800 8477.

Shadow Public Safety Minister Walter Roban condemned the attack.

“The armed robbery at Astwood Park is a grim reminder that our community has yet to come to grips with gun violence, anti-social behaviour and lawlessness,” he said.

“The fact is that no Police officer, no politician, and no community group alone can resolve this ongoing cycle of criminality — it requires all of us, cooperating and fighting for a Bermuda where each of us can walk the streets in safety.

“We extend our sympathy to the victim and we encourage all Bermudians to stand strong and stay committed to doing their part to restore law and good order to our community.”
