Man injured in shooting

A 43-year-old Sandys man required hospital treatment for an injury to his hand said to have come from a firearm, police reported yesterday.

He was treated and subsequently discharged from King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A spokesman said that details were “still unfolding”, with officers interested in hearing from anyone who was in the Astwood Park area of Warwick on Monday and noticed any suspicious activity, or who heard any gunshots at about 3pm to 4pm.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Dean Martin on 285-0011, or to call the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline on 800-8477.
