Police renew appeal for help in shooting

Detectives have renewed their appeal for information in connection with a shooting in Hamilton on Thursday night.

A 24-year-old man was shot in the arm when a lone gunman opened fire outside The Spinning Wheel nightclub on Court Street at just before 9.30pm.

Last night, detectives confirmed that the investigation into the shooting was continuing. No arrests have been made at present. The victim was rushed to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital in a private car, but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A police spokesman said: “Detectives are particularly interested in speaking with anyone that has relevant information regarding this incident.

“Members of the public that can assist this investigation should contact the Serious Crime Unit on 247-1739 or the confidential Crime Stoppers hotline 800-8477.”

On Thursday night, people in the area of the shooting told The Royal Gazette that they heard “three shots”.
