New charges for Bulgarians

Two Bulgarian men accused of bank fraud were yesterday charged with six more offences.

Vladimir Vasilev, 31, and Nikola Aleksandrov, 40, pleaded not guilty at Magistrates' Court to two counts of having a machine designed to make false credit cards for the purpose of stealing money.

Vasilev also denied three counts of possession of plastic cards with magnetic strips designed to create fake credit cards. He also pleaded not guilty to possession of a computer that could create fake credit cards.

The charges are alleged to have happened in St George's on July 15.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case until September 5 and continued their bail.

The two first appeared in Magistrates' Court on July 18 and were charged with conspiring to steal money from unknown persons between an unknown date and July 15. Vasilev pleaded not guilty to having a machine designed to make false credit cards for the purpose of stealing money.

Aleksandrov denied possession of plastic cards with magnetic strips for the creation of fake credit cards.

The offences were also alleged to have happened on July 15 in St George's.

The two were remanded in custody, but released on $10,000 bail each on July 30 after they provided the police with passcodes to their phones, which were believed to hold information related to the alleged offences.

They were also ordered to wear electronic tags, report to Hamilton Police Station three times a week and observe a 7am to 6pm curfew.

They were also ordered to stay away from any ports of exit or entry, to stay away from any water vessel, including ferries, stay only at their accommodation in Paget and surrender their passports.
