Police are hunting car thieves after two vehicles were stolen over the weekend.

A silver Toyota RAV4 SUV was stolen on Saturday night after the owner left it unattended for a few moments.

The silver Toyota Rav4, registration 47475, was parked on Angle Street at its junction with Union Street in Pembroke just after 7.10pm.

The owner returned just a minute later and found that the car had gone.

The first car, a dark grey Kia Picanto, registration 13292, was taken overnight on Friday.

The owner told police they parked the vehicle near the Parson’s Road playground on Pond Hill, Pembroke, at around 7.45pm.

When they returned yesterday morning, the car was missing.

A total of five cars have been reported stolen this month, along with 23 motorcycles and one auxiliary cycle.

The three cars stolen earlier have all been found and returned to their owners.

A police spokesman appealed to members of the public not to leave ignition keys and valuables in their vehicles when unattended and to check that all windows and doors are properly secured.

Anyone with information on the two latest thefts should call 211 or, the main police number, 295-0011.
