Fresh appeal for witnesses to gun killing a year on

A fresh appeal to solve a gun murder and an attempted murder one year on was made today by police.

Clarke Fox died after he was shot on March 17, 2020 on Court Street, Hamilton and Kyari Flood was wounded.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Kenten Trott, in charge of the investigation said: “This incident occurred at 2.45pm, the middle of the afternoon, on a busy street that contains multiple residences and businesses.

He added: “There were people on the street and patrons inside businesses that had to take cover to avoid being shot.”

Mr Trott said that anyone with information should contact the Serious Crime Unit or the confidential and anonymous Crime Stoppers hotline.

He told the public: “Please contact us if you know or have heard anything, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

“The information you provide the BPS can assist with enquires and help to solve this murder.”

The two suspects were on a dark coloured motorcycle and the rider was wearing a light coloured sweat top, blue jeans, multicoloured sneakers, gloves and a dark full face helmet

The passenger was dressed in a dark jacket, dark pants, dark sneakers and a white helmet with tinted full face visor and was in possession of a firearm.

The motorbike travelled south on Court Street and several shots were fired at the two men, who were standing close to the junction of Court Street and Elliott Street.

The two victims ran south on Court Street towards Dundonald Street, but the bike chased them and the passenger continued to fire at them.

Mr Fox and Mr Flood changed direction and ran north on Court Street, back towards Elliott Street but the bike continued to chase them as the passenger fired more shots.

The suspects fled the scene and headed west on Elliott Street.

Mr Fox later died in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital and Mr Flood was treated for his injuries and released.
