Firefighters extinguished a car fire on Roberts Avenue, Devonshire last night.

A Fire Service spokesman said the Service received a report at 10.36pm that was care was engulfed in flames and one appliance from Hamilton Station responded with four firefighters.

On arrival, the fire crew found the vehicle on fire under the bonnet and quickly exstinguished the blaze.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the fire investigators.

The fire is the latest in a string of fires in the central parishes. Between March and April there were seven suspicious fires, most involving vehicles, in a six-week span.

A special investigative team under the leadership of Acting Inspector Clifford Roberts.
