Public warned about continuing fraudulent bank call scheme

The Bermuda Police Service is warning the public to be wary of calls from individuals claiming to represent local banks.

A police spokesman said scammers were “telling the call recipients that there have been fraudulent transactions on their accounts”.

“They then claim to be calling to assist with having this addressed and asking for personal banking information. Please be advised that bona fide bank representatives, will not ask for personal banking information over the phone.

“Should you receive such a call with someone asking for this information, please immediately hang up.”

The spokesman noted that the calls have been reported coming from several numbers, including; (441) 334-8114, (441) 296-5959, (365) 263-5228, (357) 267-5124, (441) 337-3984 and (441) 334-8164
