Police officer suspended in criminal investigation

A police officer has been suspended from active duty as part of a continuing criminal investigation.

Darrin Simons, the Commissioner of Police, said in a statement that officers from the Counter-Corruption Unit executed a search warrant this morning at the home of a serving officer.

No arrests had been made, he added.

Mr Simons said: “The officer has been suspended from duty effective immediately. This suspension reflects the seriousness with which we treat allegations of criminal conduct within our service.

“We understand that incidents involving our officers undermine public trust. That's why we investigate such matters thoroughly and impartially. Any member of the service must be held to the same standard as anyone else.

“The investigation is ongoing. We cannot comment further on details at this stage but we will keep the community informed as the legal process allows.”
