Police have issued an appeal for witnesses on the ninth anniversary of a fatal stabbing which occurred in Sandys.

Jahkobi Smith was stabbed at around 7.15pm on July 29, 2017 following an altercation at the West End Sailboat Club in Sandys.

At the time, a wake was being held in memory of the late Jahcari Francis.

The Bermuda Police Service appealed to witnesses to come forward with any information that may assist in bringing those responsible to justice and providing long-awaited closure to Mr Smith’s family.

Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was present at the West End Sailboat Club, or in the surrounding area, at the time of the incident.

The police said the smallest detail, which may have seemed insignificant at the time, could prove crucial in advancing the investigation.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Barker said: “There are individuals within our community with knowledge of who is responsible for the murder of Jahkobi Smith.

“We urge you to come forward and speak with investigators. If you have concerns about your identity, confidential and anonymous reporting options are available through Crime Stoppers Bermuda.”

With the continued support of the public, Mr Barker said the BPS has successfully solved a number of serious crimes and has significantly advanced several historical murder investigations.

“We are confident that someone has information that can assist with this investigation,” he added.
