Parents and guardians were urged to pay keen attention to their children’s actions after three minors were arrested following an egg-throwing incident in Pembroke on Sunday.

A Bermuda Police Service spokesman said that at about 7.25pm on Sunday, officers attended North Shore Road and Ingham’s Vale, Pembroke, after reports of juveniles throwing eggs at passing vehicles.

Eggs were seized by officers and two juveniles at an abandoned building were detained while a third, who fled the scene, later attended the Hamilton Police Station.

The trio were arrested for throwing missiles and bailed to their parents.

Police urged parents and those with authority over minors to pay close attention to what items they take with them when leaving home during evening hours.

They were urged to check children’s backpacks or bags if suspicions arise.

Egg throwing is usually associated with the approach of Hallowe’en and the spokesman said that while it may seem like a harmless prank, throwing eggs or other items at moving vehicles poses a serious safety risk and can cause extensive property damage.

Shop staff were also advised to challenge bulk purchasing of eggs by juveniles in the lead up to Hallowe’en.

Residents and motorists were also urged to be mindful of persons throwing eggs or other projectiles at passing vehicles.

Witnesses to the antisocial behaviour were urged to immediately call 211 or the main police number, 295-0011.
