Mayho back in the saddle with big win

Race winner: Mayho

Dominique Mayho put his Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race nightmare behind him to claim victory in the Team Fast Forward Bicycle Works Road Race at the weekend.

Mayho, whose bid for a third successive title was dashed when he slid out of last week’s race late on, narrowly defeated Darren Glasford, of Winners Edge, who came second and Team Tokio’s Shannon Lawrence, who won the Sinclair Packwood Memorial Race, finished third.

Mayho’s win in the 55-mile race was Team Madison- Digicel’s only podium finish of the day.

In the Adult B class, the top four riders were less than 0.5sec apart after 44 miles, with Dennis Joell, of Team Social Cycles, in first, Randy Burgess, of Winners Edge, second and Daren Dowling, of Team Social Cycles, finishing third.

Rajul Mathie-Shaki, of Team Social Cycles, took first place in the Men’s C class, a 33-mile race, with Michael Thomas, of Team Social Cycles, coming second and his team-mate Sean Dickinson finishing third.

In the Adult Women’s race, Gabriella Arnold, of Winners Edge, crossed the finish line first ahead of Laura Norman, of Fast Forward Bicycle Works, and Winners Edge’s Penelope Butterfield.

Kaden Hopkins, of Winners Edge, won the 22-male junior race; Benjamin Edwards, of Team Social Cycles, claimed victory in the 11-mile junior race, and Alex Southern, of Team Fast Forward Bicycle Works, won the six-mile junior race.

More than 40 riders took part in the race with the course from the Warwick petrol station and also taking in Paget and Southampton parishes.
