Horsfield places third in Ontario
Robin Horsfield, the Bermuda national mountain bike champion, built upon his early season momentum with a third-place finish at the Ontario Cup at Albion Hills in Canada.
The format for the competition this year was slightly changed with a longer race format. Horsfield, who had the second fastest lap time out of more than 400 participants, held long-time professional and reigning provincial champion Peter Glassford's wheel for the majority of the first lap of two.
Ontario rider Matthew Martindale later passed Horsfield and ultimately finished 2½ minutes behind Glassford in 1hr 52min. Horsfield's next major events are the Canada Cup in Baie Saint Paul, Quebec, this weekend.
Last year he was the first Bermudian to ride at the World Cup mountain bike level and he will repeat his participation with performances in Andorra and France in just over a month.
