Rider in crash near Tynes Bay discharged from hospital

A motorcyclist was treated in hospital after being involved in a collision in Devonshire last night, police said.

The rider was understood to be a 48-year-old man from Pembroke, who, the Bermuda Police Service initially reported, was thought to have suffered head injuries.

A BPS spokesman said officers were called to Palmetto Road, near Tynes Bay, at about 10.25pm after receiving reports of a crash between a motorcycle and a car.

The motorcyclist was conscious and alert when police arrived and was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment. The driver of the car was unharmed.

The road was closed for about two hours while officers processed the scene.

In an update this afternoon, police said that the injured rider was treated in hospital and discharged.

The BPS added that inquiries into the incident continued and witnesses were asked to contact Pc Carlos Shepherd on 211 or e-mail cshepherd@bps.bm.
