Rider arrested after two collisions with police
A 22-year-old male motorcycle rider who was driving while disqualified was arrested last night after his vehicle struck two police officers in separate incidents.
Police were said to be conducting stop-and-search operations along Crow Lane and Lane Hill in Pembroke shortly before midnight when they attempted to stop the rider.
A police spokesman said he failed to comply, then collided with an officer on a police motorcycle.
The rider made his way to Crossland Lane, Pembroke, where he dismounted, leaving the motorcycle still in motion. The unmanned vehicle struck a second police officer, causing him “multiple injuries”.
The officer was treated in hospital and discharged, with further medical assessments scheduled.
After a short pursuit on foot, the suspect was arrested for several traffic-related offences. Police checks revealed he was also riding while disqualified.
Police said the man was expected to appear before the courts in due course.
