Man injured in collision

A motorcycle rider was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital after a collision yesterday in Southampton.

A police spokesman said officers attended the scene of the incident, involving a motorcycle and taxi near Middle Road’s junction with Port Royal Golf Course Road shortly after 1pm.

Police saw the male motorcycle rider lying on the road next to the bike and taxi, which was in the westbound lane.

The rider was conscious and breathing, but complained of discomfort about his body. He also suffered lacerations to his legs and right hand.

He was assisted by medical personnel and taken to the hospital for further treatment.
