Man injured in Smith’s crash

A man sustained serious injuries in a Smith’s crash tonight.

Police officers and emergency responders were dispatched to the motorcycle crash along Harrington Sound Road, east of Harrington Hundreds Road, at about 10.30pm.

A police spokesman said: “Initial reports were the male motorcycle rider was laying in the roadway conscious, but with head and facial injuries as well as abrasions about the body.”

He was attended to at the scene and taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment of his injuries, which are considered serious.

The roadway is blocked while officers process the scene and eastbound traffic is being diverted over Harrington Hundreds Roads on to Knapton Hill and westbound motorists are being redirected over Knapton Hill on to South Road.

Motorists should approach these diversion points with caution and follow instructions of police posted to assist with traffic flow.
