The victim of a road crash in Sandys on Sunday night has been named by police as Michael DeSilva, 45.

The father of three succumbed to his injuries after a collision with a car late on Sunday evening in the White Hill area of Sandys.

His death marked the tenth road fatality of 2026.

The Bermuda Police Service said two vehicles — a car driven by a 37-year-old woman and a motorcycle ridden by Mr DeSilva — were apparently travelling in opposite directions when they collided at about 11.30pm on Sunday on Middle Road, Sandys, near the junction with Field View Lane.

Mr DeSilva was seriously injured and was later pronounced dead at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.

A relative said Mr DeSilva was a devoted father who was much loved by his friends and family.

The BPS said a family liaison officer is assisting Mr DeSilva’s loved ones, while an investigation into the fatal crash continues.

Anyone with relevant information and witnesses who have not already come forward were encouraged to call Constable Steven Paynter of the BPS roads policing unit on 717-0951 or to e-mail spaynter@bps.bm, as soon as possible.
