A change to the number of road fatalities on the island this year came after medical findings, the Bermuda Police Service said today.

The total to date for 2026 is 12, not 13.

Results “ultimately verified” that a medical incident led to a collision that resulted in the death of a male rider on August 1.

The motorcyclist was involved in a single-vehicle crash at about 7pm on July 25, near the junction of South Road and Church Road, Southampton.

A police spokesman said the BPS confirmed that the death of the man — understood to be a 62-year-old from Pembroke — was reclassified.

“As such, the official number of road fatalities in Bermuda, so far this year, is 12,” he added.

“The BPS extends sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and is grateful for their patience with our investigation regarding their loved one’s death.”
