Commuters travelling on North Shore Road were met with delays this morning after a crash left a car stranded on the verge.

The road was bottlenecked after the vehicle went onto a grassy bank on the southern edge, a short distance east of the Seaside Grill restaurant in Devonshire.

Police reported attending a collision, at about 8.45am, between a private car and a taxi near the junction with Ocean Spray Close.

The car was said to be headed west along North Shore Road when the taxi emerged from a driveway, making a right-hand turn into the other vehicle’s path.

The female driver of the car attempted to avoid a collision, but struck the front of the taxi, lost control and drove up onto the embankment.

A police spokesman said she was treated at the scene for what were described as minor injuries. The male taxi driver was not reported as injured.
