Police issue over 130 tickets in two days
Officers issued 131 tickets, including 85 for speeding, between Friday and yesterday, the Bermuda Police Service reported today.
A BPS spokesman said full-time and reserve officers conducted traffic enforcement in Hamilton and the central parishes between 2pm and 8pm on Friday.
Over that period, police issued 55 tickets for speeding — with the highest speed recorded at 78 kilometres per hour — 19 for using handheld devices while driving, seven for illegal window tints, three for having no insurance, five for seatbelt offences and two each for disobeying signs, having no driver’s licence, parking offences and driving unlicensed vehicles.
Three people were arrested for outstanding traffic warrants, on Friday.
Another traffic enforcement exercise ran from 6pm yesterday to midnight.
During that time, police issued 30 speeding tickets — with the highest speed recorded at 79km/h — as well as tickets for driving unlicensed and uninsured vehicles, disobeying traffic signs and driving while disqualified by age.
One person was arrested for outstanding traffic warrants.
The spokesman said: “Road users can expect to see ongoing high visibility policing at various locations, with particular attention dedicated to tackling traffic offences, in the coming days.”
