Honorary fellowships for David Wingate and Dean Furbert

David Wingate and Dean Furbert were inducted into the Company of Honorary Fellows at Bermuda College.

The Bermuda College honoured two local men for their contributions to society last week.The college bestowed honorary fellowships to David Wingate and Dean Furbert.Dr Wingate has been involved in conservation efforts in bermuda for decades. He lived on Nonsuch Island for 38 years, where he conceived and developed the “Living Museum” restoration project to try and restore the terrestrial ecosystem as close to Bermuda's pre-colonial habitat. It resulted in the population of cahows, a bird previously thought to be extinct, trebbeling.Mr. Furbert has been an educator on the Island for 40 years.During that time he was the principal of Francis Patton Primary School and Dellwood Primary School. He went on to become the chief education officer at the Department of Education.He is also founder of the popular faith-based summer camping programme, Camp Hope.Related websiteswww.bercol.bm
