BEN, Somersfield Academy set up network for science teachers

A new group linking teachers with scientists has been formed by Bermuda Education Network in tandem with Somersfield Academy.

Teachers can register for the association, dubbed the STEM Network, via BEN’s Facebook page.

BEN and Somersfield organised last week’s Big Ideas Science Forum which brought 100 educators from most of the Island’s private and public schools for two nights of training and brainstorming dedicated to science.

“This was a good event which focused on the need for science-specific professional development,” said Somersfield principal Peter Harding. “Somersfield is pleased to support the creation of a new STEM Network, and we hope that many science teachers from different schools across the system will participate.”

Educators can register for the group, or find out about other professional development programmes, by e-mailing tracy.astwood@ben.bm.
