Warwick Academy records best IB exam results

The grades came in this weekend for Warwick Academy, which reported its best International Baccalaureate exam results in school history.Principal Maggie McCorkell said 60 graduates from the class of 2013 wrote their final exams in May — and “are to be congratulated for achieving a 92 percent Diploma pass rate, and a 100 percent pass rate in Individual subjects.“This is an improvement from an 88 percent Diploma pass rate last year,” she added.Graduate Matthew Wedlich got the highest individual score ever attained at the school: 44, out of a possible 45 points for the Diploma.Anna Dobson took 41; Keiran Hamilton and Amber Wilson, 36 — and Ashley Davies, Sydney Neal and Ciara Svensen took 35.Deputy Principal Dave Horan attributed it to the strong commitment of the 2013 year group.“Combined with a huge amount of work from dedicated teachers and staff, that creates a successful result,” he said. “Warwick also strategically aims to improve every year.“We believe all-round holistic students do the best. Warwick has a very strong sports, drama, music programmes and a pastoral structure all which support the academics.”www.warwickacad.bm
