Primary schools have new principals

Two new primary school principals and three new preschool administrators have been appointed, the Ministry of Education announced yesterday.The 2012 Acting Principal for Dalton E. Tucker Primary School, Tajuana Dean, has been made the school’s principal. Ms Dean previously taught at Victor Scott Primary School and Port Royal Primary School, also serving as the deputy principal at Port Royal.Charles Joynes is the new principal of Northlands Primary School, returning to Bermuda after teaching in the US.Sheryce Raynor will take over as administrator of Lagoon Park Preschool, moving from her most recent position as a mentor teacher for the Bermuda Teacher Induction Programme. Ms Raynor also taught at Paget Primary School for 14 years.The new preschool administrator for St George’s Preschool is Jana Pitcher. Ms Pitcher was formerly a teacher at Francis Patton, East End and St David’s Primary Schools, as well as literacy coordinator at St David’s Primary School.Alana Tucker will be the new administrator for St David’s Preschool. Her previous experience includes teaching at Prospect Primary School, Warwick Academy and the Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo.Permanent Secretary of Education Warren Jones congratulated the new principals and administrators.“The Ministry is pleased to announce the appointment of these five outstanding educators and administrators,” he said. “Their appointments represent the development of future leaders and capacity building to improve student achievement across the public education system.”
