Three former Saltus Grammar School students have received scholarships and bursaries from law firm Cox Hallett Wilkinson Limited.

Rachel Tucker, 24, Taylor Braithwaite, 24, and Ciara Burrows, 20, were selected as the 2016 recipients from a “large pool of excellent applications”, the company stated.

“This year saw another great group of smart and focused young people who are clearly prepared to work hard to achieve their goals,” CHW managing director Ernest Morrison added. “The legal profession will benefit from their talents and energy but we were particularly impressed this year with Rachel, Taylor and Ciara.”

Ms Tucker, from Sandys, was chosen for the CHW Scholarship. She attended Saltus and Williston Northampton School in Massachusetts before obtaining her bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in sociology from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. She is now pursuing an LL B at the University of West England and hopes to graduate in 2017.

Mr Braithwaite, of Southampton, was one of two bursary recipients.

The University of West England graduate has obtained his Graduate Diploma in Law with merit and is now enrolled in the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law in Bristol.

And Ms Burrows, of Pembroke, is working towards her bachelor’s degree in Joint Legal Studies and Economics at the University of Waterloo in Canada.
