Scott: TN Tatem safe but in need of work

The TN Tatem Middle School premises are safe to be occupied, according to a report from the Government health and safety officer.

Wayne Scott, the Minister of Education, said the facilities inspection report concluded that while there was no imminent health and safety concern, the school required “thorough cleaning, electrical repairs, and repairing leaks and replace damaged ceiling tiles”, among other maintenance issues.

Mr Scott said he had requested to have a plan in place by December 9 that would include a timeline for addressing all issues raised — which would have to be agreed upon between the health and safety officer and the Ministries of Education and Public Works.

The minister added that similar inspections would be put in place for other public middle schools — and that the report would be posted tomorrow on the ministry website at www.moed.bm.
