BHS art heads to exhibition at Masterworks

Artwork by Bermuda High School students goes on display tomorrow at the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art.

“The Penultimate Exhibition” by year IB2 students was created as part of final exams for the new international baccalaureate visual arts diploma, which required them to work across a variety of media, as well as analysing the works of artists who influenced them.

Their creations will be exhibited at the Rick Faries gallery.

“The students curated their work themselves and considered the relationship between each piece and how meaning would be conveyed to the viewer,” explained Julie Butler, communications manager at BHS.

“They have learnt an immense amount about not only their art, but also the process of putting on an exhibit and everything that is involved in the process.”

The IB art studio was witness to “many late nights, early starts, study periods and weekends spent in the build up to this exhibition”, Ms Butler added.

The opening reception will be held from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, and the exhibition itself will run until April 25.
