The Government will be accepting applications for scholarship funding through the Department of Workforce Development from this week.

Jason Hayward, the Minister of Economy and Labour, said: “In alignment with the Bermuda Economic Recovery Plan’s youth employment strategy, the Department of Workforce Development remains committed to providing Bermudian students access to overseas and local scholarships.

“These opportunities enable our youth to complete their educational pursuits, putting them on the path to success.

“Furthermore, investing in our youth will help grow Bermuda's workforce and strengthen our economy, creating a more sustainable and stable community.”

In 2022, the department provided $350,000 in scholarship funding to help 25 Bermudians to attend local educational programmes and overseas tertiary education.

This year the window of time to apply for these scholarships has been extended by a month, from Wednesday, February 1 to Sunday, April 30.

Interested people may apply here in the “Scholarship Name Search” of the “Search Scholarships” page, key in and search for the word “Department”.

Only fully completed applications will be considered, and hard-copy applications are not accepted.

In addition to providing scholarship opportunities, Bermuda’s young people can receive support with career development by way of resume writing and interviewing skills. Students can also apply for summer internships and summer employment programmes which give young people the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience.
